General description of the collection: The Lewis Leigh collection includes xerox copies of a huge collection of Civil War documents from a private collector. It includes many Confederate documents as well as Union ones. The whole war is encompassed, including civilian accounts on campaigns, battles, and the home front. The primary focus of the collection is the eastern theater, with special emphasis on the Confederate Army of Northern Virginia and the Union Army of the Potomac.
